Mittens & Scarves
With the cold weather upon us, we will be teaching the children all about winter weather. The teachers-of-the-week have developed some beautiful bulletin boards to teach the children about winter clothing. They have also developed many fun games which utilize fine motor skills, problem solving skills and recognition skills. This week we also have some special guests - musicians. They will be playing some holiday music for the children.

All About Me
This week the children will be learning all about themselves. They will be learning about the different parts of the body, how to take care of themselves and their emotions. The "teachers-of-the-week" have many fun activities planned. The game shown teaches children how to dress themselves and also teaches the parts of the body (head, shoulders, knees, toes, eyes, ears, mouth and nose). One of the songs that we will be singing this week is called 'head and shoulders'. We hope that the children share this song with you at home.

Music Makers
This week, your child will be learning all about music. They will have the opportunity to see live musicians (teachers-of-the-week) and learn about the different instruments that they play. They will also have the opportunity to make and play instruments of their own. The children will be learning the beat of music through these activities. The game shown (Monkey's Music Match) is based on the children's book Monkey's Marching Band by Michaela Muntean and Nicole Rubel. Your child will learn about the cymbals, the trumpet, the piccolo, the tuba, the drum and the xylophone. This game uses children's fine motor skills as well as their recognition skills. We hope they enjoy putting together their own marching band.
